The ITC is an intensive 8 day program and we offer various dates throughout the year. We can also work with individual candidates depending on their needs.

There are academic sessions learning the role of an Open Water Instructor, such as how to conduct individual skills training, Acquisition, Development, Commitment and Retention of customers, teaching entry level and continued education programs, legal and safety applications, the components of a skill briefing, demonstration, evaluation, development and debrief. You will be assessed on your academic and in water teaching, professionalism, decision making and your knowledge of the SSI education system.

Pool sessions are where we will develop your controlled observation skills as well as the practical teaching of students. This involves role playing, observations and evaluations. There are 10 practical application portions of the course to complete. You must also pass a Water Fitness Evaluation.

Open Water sessions again develop open water site control, awareness, observations and teaching and evaluations but this time in potentially more challenging conditions.

All times and venues for courses will be confirmed nearer the time. Most courses are held at Divemaster Scuba but alternative venues and Dive Centres are possible if demand is sufficient.

All sessions are followed with thorough debriefing and discussion about your performance helping you learn. On successful completion of the ITC, candidates may participate in an Instructor Evaluation. The IE must be conducted within 6 months of the ITC or a re-evalution is necessary.
